Zina Davis

Zina Sarah Pannell Davis, 92, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at her daughter's home in Arco, Idaho.

She was born on June 9, 1929, in Jerome, Idaho to John Marion Pannell and Annie Elizabeth Lockyer.During her youth, she worked several different jobs, from candling eggs for the local farmer to making bread and donuts at Eddies Bakery. She also worked for the railroad checking the rails by walking the lines. At night she would carry a lantern to help her see as she checked the tracks and would pull the switch so that the train could switch lines.

Zina married the love of her life, Leonard Dale Davis on November 29, 1944. They moved around a lot until they decided to make Arco, Idaho their home. While living in Iowa, Zina worked at the Ordnance plant during the war. She worked on the assembly line making detonators that contained highly explosive material that was used to initiate an explosive sequence.Her greatest work came from being a homemaker. She loved taking care of her family, working outdoors, gardening, growing flowers, needlework, crocheting, making doilies, table cloths, and blankets out of cro sheen threads. She also enjoyed the 20 years that she and Leonard spent building their home together.

Surviving are her children, JR. Dale Davis, American Falls, ID, Christine Davis Morrison, Arco, ID and Joan Amelia Douglas, Scappoose, OR; her grandchildren, Gary Morrison, Luke Thorngren, both of Arco, ID, Julie Davis, Pocatello, ID, Natalie Nelson, Farson, WY, Douglas Davis, Blackfoot, ID and Tina Hayes, Scappoose, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard D. Davis, grandchild, Dustino, D.D. Jensen, her sisters Lavona Rollins, Martha Hiler, Edna Lafon, and Rose Reese, her brothers, Marion Pannell, Vern Pannell, and Ervin Pannell.

Funeral Services were held Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
