Wayne McKenzie

Edgar Wayne McKenzie, 79, passed away March 2, 2021 in Blackfoot, Idaho.

He was born October 19, 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Leslie and Edith McKenzie. He was the 6th of 10 children. Wayne grew up in Arco, Idaho where he graduated from Butte High School in 1960. He attended college for a short time before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served as a radio communications liaison during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1964 and later served two years in the Army Reserves.

In 1965 he married Carol Hinkley and to that union came three sons; Richard, Jim(Brenda) and Robert(Karen). Wayne worked as a Bonneville County Deputy Sheriff for a time before moving his family to Utah. He worked as a sewing machine repairman for a time before moving back to Idaho Falls where he began working at Argon at the Idaho Nuclear Laboratory. Carol and Wayne were later divorce.

Wayne moved back to Arco where he met Dorthy Dillard. They were married in 1993 and Wayne inherited 5 kids; Scott(Tasha) Line, Becky(Allen) McaLevy, Mary Jo(Adam) Slagowski, Molly(Lloyd) Lundquist and Steven. In May of 1995 he adopted Molly and Steven. After 27 years at Argon, Wayne retired in 1999. They moved to Moore, Idaho in 2000 where Wayne lived out his days playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wayne enjoyed playing pool, bowling, darts, hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader, loved watching westerns but Steven Segal movies were his favorite.

Surviving is his wife, Dorthy McKenzie, a brother, a sister, 4 sons, 3 daughters, 27 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 son, Richard.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lost Rivers Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
