In Loving Memory of Ursula Vaccaro-Blaskiewicz
March 1, 1973 – September 20, 2025
Ursula Vaccaro-Blaskiewicz, 52, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on September 20, 2025, in a mountain climbing accident on Diamond Peak. A devoted mother, loving wife, and radiant soul, Ursula left this world while doing something she deeply loved—surrounded by the beauty of the mountains she cherished.
Raised in New Hartford, New York, Ursula was the beloved daughter of Nelly and Vincent Vaccaro and sister to Brenda. She attended St. Lawrence University and went on to earn a Master’s degree from Syracuse University as a Nurse Practitioner, a reflection of her lifelong compassion and dedication to helping others.
During her years in San Diego, California, Ursula devoted herself to raising her blended family—a calling she embraced with boundless love, energy, and grace. Together with her husband, Dr. Don Blaskiewicz, a neurosurgeon and spinal deformity specialist, she built a life centered on family, community, and meaningful connection. She was the adoring mother of Leo (19), Lilliana (17), and Alexander (10), and a loving stepmother to Elijah (25).
It was Ursula who first introduced Don to the world of adaptive sports through adaptive skiing—an experience that profoundly shaped their family’s shared purpose. In later years, Ursula continued to ski with her son Alexander, an adaptive skier whose determination and joy on the mountain were a constant source of pride and inspiration. Meanwhile, Don dedicated himself to adaptive surfing and supporting international competitions as a waterman. Their joint commitment to inclusion and empowerment through sport became a defining expression of their love and values.
In recent years, Ursula found deep joy and fulfillment in Boise, Idaho, where she embraced the mountains, rivers, and outdoor lifestyle. An avid mountain climber, backcountry skier, and kayaker, she lived each day with courage, curiosity, and reverence for the natural world. She was also a passionate advocate for adaptive athletes, championing access and inclusion in outdoor recreation.
Ursula was a light to all who knew her—vibrant, grounded, and generous. She nurtured deep friendships, inspired others with her authenticity and courage, and brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. Her legacy of love, adventure, and wholehearted living will continue in the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Leo, Lilliana, Alexander, and Elijah; her parents, Nelly and Vincent; her sister, Brenda; and a wide circle of family, friends, and kindred spirits.
A celebration of Ursula’s life will be held in San Diego during a future college break, allowing her children and loved ones to gather together to honor her memory. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ursula’s memory to the High Fives Foundation in Truckee, California—an organization close to her heart that embodies her belief in the healing power of the outdoors and the strength of the human spirit.
Ursula climbed mountains with grace—both in life and in spirit. Her love, laughter, and courage will forever echo in the hearts of all who loved her.
Arrangements are under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.

My deepest condolences ! My heart hurts so much. Ursula was my first friend when i moved to NH in 10 th grade. She is the reason why I love Sting/ The Police . We would listen to his music for hours. She introduced me to cross country skiing which led me to realize what the outdoors and mother nature had to offer. We were not in touch after high school…. Wish i could have changed that. She will never be forgotten and forever in my heart!!❤️
So very sorry for your and your family’s loss, Brenda. Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Prayers for Ursula’s family. Such a beautiful and kind person. I am thankful I had the opportunity to know her.
I was lucky enough to know Ursula at Saint Lawrence when we participated in the same class on the riding team. I can still see her smile and hear her laugh. She was always so positive and full of life. My condolences to the family and those that loved her. She made our world better.
