Thresa Belle Landon (Montgomery) passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023, at the age of 92 surrounded by her loving family.
Thresa was born on July 19, 1931 to Euell and Beulah Montgomery in Pecos, Texas. She and her family moved many times. From Texas to New Mexico, Nevada, California, and Idaho. She had many adventures with her brother John as they traveled around. Thresa was the 2 nd born. She also had adventures playing in the bars with her father. He would play the fiddle and she would play guitar and they would both sing to the crowds. They would put a hat out in front of them and the people listening to them would throw change in.
After her family moved to Salmon, Idaho, she met Cleon (Clee) Landon and at the age of 17 on
December 4 th 1948, she married Clee in Pocatello at the courthouse. They would later be sealed in the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They lived in Salmon for a short time. They moved on to Osgood, Idaho and farmed. After that they moved to Nevada where Clee worked at a mine. At this time, they had 5 children. James, Holly, David, Joseph and Tara. They decided that they wanted to go back to Idaho, this is when they moved to Mackay in 1965 and where they would stay.
Thresa always worked hard. She worked at the Mackay Drug Store, Greens Market and then the US Post Office. She retired from the US Post Office as Postmaster. She had many friends and always said one of the highlights of working at the post office was when families would have babies they would bring them into the post office and she would weigh them on the scales.
Thresa loved playing her guitar and singing with her brother and sister entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed playing solitary, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. She was an amazing cook and was always feeding someone.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in different capacities.
Thresa is survived by her son James (Pinky) Landon of Mackay, Holly Sayer (Dan) of Mackay, Daughter Tara Wilson (Joel) of Pocatello, Daughter-in-laws Teri (Joe) of Mackay and Sherry (David) of Bagdad, Az. 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Cleon Landon, her parents Euell & Beulah Montgomery, sister Janie Montgomery, brother John Montgomery, sons Joseph and David Landon and son-in-law Dan Sayer.
A graveside services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
