Richard Alan Miller

Richard Alan Miller, 71, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was born on December 27, 1949 in Spokane, Washington to Kenneth Dee Miller and Marilyn Fay Longly Thompson. Richard was raised in Spokane where he attended school, graduating from Shadle Park High School.

On August 19, 1978 he married Dianne Louise (Gray) Peterson.

Richard was well educated, having earned his bachelor of Arts degree from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. Richard attended Moody Northwest, in Spokane, Washington and Kuyper Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, He then received a masters degree from the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi.

Richard and Dianne lived many different places during his career as a Pastor, including Lynwood OPC, in Lynwood, Washington, Redeemer Community Church, in Ocala, Florida, but they eventually settled in Arco, and have lived in the same home for the past seventeen years. Richard was the pastor for the Arco Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Arco during that time. With all that moving around for the ministry, Richard once remarked that he had already accomplished his retirement travel. He also indicated that he wanted to die actively serving in the church, which he achieved by conducting services in his home during those last few years of his life.

Richard love sports and his two favorite teams were the New York Yankees, and the San Francisco 49ers. Richard even had the outstanding personal experience of watching the 49ers play in New Orleans.

Richard may have had a weak physical heart, but he had a very strong heart for the Lord spiritually. He loved the biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew, and was always willing and eager to teach it to others.

Richard had an influence on many people in the places where he was pastor, and the friendships he developed have stayed with he and Dianne and will continue forever.

He is survived by his wife Dianne in Arco, his step-son Todd Allen Peterson in Long Beach, California, and his sister Melani Ann Miller in Spokane, Washington.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93, Arco, ID. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho.
