Reuben Harold Babcock

Reuben Harold Babcock joined his wife in Heaven on March 7, 2024.

He was born on February 25, 1930 to Ross Osborne and Bertha Artelle Babcock.  Harold learned to pray, herd sheep, farm, garden and fix almost everything.  He watched electricity, phones, plumbing and cars become part of our world.

Harold served his country during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953; directly after, he served his God as a missionary in Hawaii from 1954 – 1956.  The rest of his 94 years were lived right here in the Lost River Valley.

Harold married Marjorie Jensen on January 25, 1960 in the Idaho Falls Temple.  They raised 6 children.

Harold was a man of integrity and kindness.  He loved the land and everything that lives and grows on it.  He passed that on to his children and to many scouts he led for over 35 years.  He received the Silver Beaver Award for that service as scoutmaster.  He was a talented woodcarver.  He taught himself to play the harmonica and guitar.  He knew this valley and never tired of exploring it.  He farmed, chased lots of cows, and fixed fences.  He made time for his family, hunting, and callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Harold enjoyed people and talked to them all – strangers and friends.  He loved the Lord and his example of faith is steadfast and strong.  He will be missed.  He has left a warm spot in the hearts of many, many people.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, daughter, Janell, his parents and 4 siblings.  He is survived by his brother, Jimmy; his sisters, Dorothy and Martha; and his children, Eric Babcock, Marcella Naumu, Christine Behling, Russell Babcock, and Emily Sharp.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Moore, Idaho Stake Center, 3100 N. 3350 W.
