Patricia Slayton, a longtime resident of the Lost River Valley, passed away November 20, 2024, at her home in Moore, Idaho. She was born May 13, 1934, in Reno, Nevada to James Graves Scrugham and Betty Wilt Scrugham. Patty recieved her Bachelor of Science, at the University of Nevada in Reno.
Patty moved to Moore, Idaho in 1980 from Reno, Nevada and worked as a laboratory technologist at Lost Rivers Hospital until retiring in 2002.
Patty was an avid outdoors woman, botanist and incredibly humorous. A great deal of her free time was spent botanizing and collecting seeds of rare alpine plants in the Big Lost River Range and many other places throughout the west. Patty was also an expert snow skier and spent most of her winters either on the slopes or cross-country skiing.
Among Patty’s myriad of hobbies and special talents, she enjoyed wood carving and over the years carved several full size carousel “horses” as well as hundreds of beautiful chip carvings. Patty’s highly generous and humorous nature allowed her to give her artwork freely to friends and family alike.
Patty is survived by her two children, Kim Slayton of Pine Creek, James Slayton of Elko, Nevada and her grandson, Justin Snyder of Boise.
Funeral arrangements are being cared for at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco, Idaho.

My sincere condolences to the family. Patty was truly one of a kind.. a beautiful soul in and out brilliant compassionate and giving I absolutely loved her feisty nature. She was a blessing to many in the community and helped unconditionally those who she cared for. Patty is loved and will be missed by many of us here in the Lost River valley and beyond. 💔
