Marjorie Jensen Babcock was born on December 19, 1931, in Moore, Idaho, and passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. She lived her entire life in the Lost River Valley as a daughter, sister, wife and mother. She understood the priceless influence of motherhood, and her first thought was always for her children and her friends in the community, and finding ways to help them and serve them. She saw beauty around her, and shared her observations with her family: the beauty of God’s creations in animals, colors, and landscapes, chubby baby arms, beautiful music, and her beautiful and simple faith in God. She was a wonderful cook, played the piano, made quilts, lace, and embroidery, as well as clothes for her family.

Marjorie served in many capacities in her community and church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a member of the Moore Ward for all of her 91 years, where she served in the Cub Scouts, Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She also joyfully served in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple with her husband for 12 years.

She is survived by her husband Reuben Harold Babcock, sister LaVir (Wendall) Knight, children Eric (Chrissy) Babcock, Marcella (Michael) Naumu, Christine (Richard) Behling, Russell Babcock, Emily (Justin) Sharp, 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Janell (Brian) Broadbent, mother Laura Sophia Sorenson Jensen, father Joseph Edward Jensen, brothers Doyle (Catherine) Jensen, Elmer (Thelma) Jensen, Lloyd (Jean) Jensen, Vaughn (Theola) Jensen, and Leo (Bonnie)Jensen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center, 3100 N. 3350 W., Moore, ID.  The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Lost River Cemetery under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
