Loren Stephen Grimm

Loran Stephen Grimm, 76, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Teton Care Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was born on May 10, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho To Loran Plez Grimm and Betty Gummersall Grimm.  Loran was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Victor High School in 1966.  He enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict where he served his country on the minesweeper, USS EMbattle (AM-434).  During his time in the military, Loran also took college classes to help him further his education.

On October 4, 1969 he married his sweetheart, Darlene Phillips, in American Falls, Idaho.  They made their home in Hamilton and Victor, Montana before moving to Arco, Idaho.  This is where Loran would live the remainder of his days.  He and Darlene were later divorced.  

Loran worked at the INEL as Security for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, reading and shooting firearms.  He was a member of the VFW and was a reservist for the National Guard, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served many of his fellow veterans by assisting with the military honors.

Surviving is his daughter, Karna Garner; his sisters, Lechel Hegge and Gerry Barnhart.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Nick Hegge.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Arco Ward Building, 701 County Road, Arco, ID.  The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services.  Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.  Military Rites will be provided by the VFW Harland Clendenin Post #7137.
