Jerald Hoke Johnston passed away peacefully in his home on April 20th, surrounded by family.  He was born September 8, 1943 to Hoke R and Elizabeth Anderson Johnston at Mercy Hospital in Nampa.  He joined 3 brothers and 2 sisters, as his twin sister, Judy, raced him into the world by 1 hour.

He went to school at Castle Creek, Mora, and Kuna in Idaho and Jordan Valley in Oregon.  He went on to the College of Idaho.  He  received his master of mechanics from the National Technical School, was ASE certified in several systems and had other technical certificates to round out his mechanical background.

He married Brenda Jane Smith, November 28, 1970 at Darlington.  They have two children, Jarrie and Hoke.

In 1984 he went to work for Butte County School District as bus mechanic and later transportation director.  He enjoyed his job and loved taking the trip busses to events.  He really enjoyed watching all of the school kids grow, change and become adults throughout the years.  He retired November of 2011.  He also enjoyed performing driver license testing and CDL testing for truck drivers.

Jerry loved camping, fishing, hunting, travel and most of all his family.  He was so very proud of his son and daughter.  His two granddaughters, Jennifer and JoAnn, were greatly loved by him and they were his partners in many wonderful adventures.
