Frances Grace Keele Perkes

Frances Grace Keele Perkes, 79, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Pocatello, Idaho.

She was born on April 2, 1944, to Boyd Francis and Marjorie Maxey Keele in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Frances spent her youth in the Antelope Valley.  She attended school in a one room schoolhouse until high school when her family moved within a few miles of the Perkes Family.  Frances graduated from Mackay High School in 1962.  She attended Link’s Business College in Boise for a year and moved back to work at Phillips Petroleum in the Arco desert.  During this time, she started dating Thomas Perkes.  They were married in Leslie, ID on June 27, 1964, and later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 8, 1966.  They were blessed with five children.

Frances worked hard as a homemaker cleaning, cooking, canning, sewing, and quilting.  She had a knack for detail in everything she did.  She worked as a bus driver for 30 years and at the Butte Soil and Water Conservation District for 40 plus years.  She truly loved both her jobs and cherished the friendships she developed while there. 

Frances served many calling for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and built lifelong friendships there.  She worked with the Boy Scouts of America and helped countless young men obtain their citizenship scouting badges.  Frances' most prized accomplishments are her children and grandchildren.  She loved all of them dearly.

She is survived by her brother, Maxey (Donna) Keele, Faribault, MN; sons John (Cissy) Perkes, Arco, ID, Lynn (Earlene) Perkes, Bern, ID, Brian Perkes, Deary, ID, and Ivan (Charlynn) Perkes, Blackfoot, ID; her daughter, Crystal (Dan) Cummins, Twin Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren, Blake Perkes, Luke Perkes, Phillip and Kirsten Cummins, Madilynn, Travis, Amilia, Colton, Orrin, Grant and Hallie Perkes.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- Moore Stake Center, 3100 N. 3350 W. Moore, ID.  A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Lost Rivers Cemetery under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.

  1. As a conservation district employee, Frances was my mentor and most of all my friend. Such a kind, smart and caring lady with a great sense of humor. I cherish the moments I was able to spend with her. Prayers and condolences to the family. May the lord be with you.

What a wonderful, hard-working person Frances was, a true mentor to many of us near and far. The Soil Conservation Districts honor and admire her for her dedication in the field of Conservation and educating many young people to preserve our land and water.

    I am so sorry to hear of Francis passing. She was a very special lady. We were best friends all thru high school. She started dating Tom junior year and I dated his best friend. A lot if special Memories. My prayers for the family.
