Donald Glenn Smith, 84, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Teton Health and Rehabilitation Care Center in Idaho Falls, ID.  He was born May 29^th,  1940 in Bethune, CO to Glenn Austin and Jessie Evelyn Hull Smith.  He attended school in Bethune, CO and Kimball, NE and in 1956 moved to Arco, ID where he graduated from Butte County High School in 1958. He then attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID majoring in Physics.  In 1961, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with distinction with a nuclear armed Corporal Missile Field Artillery Regiment in West Germany at the height of the Cold War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1964. After returning to Arco, Donald was a teacher at Butte County High School.  He was an avid amateur shortwave radio hobbyist and was able to fix and repair almost any electronic or mechanical device.  He will be sorely missed and is survived by Erin, Mia, Tom, Nathan and many Grand Nieces and Nephews.  There will be a graveside service at 1 P.M. Friday, October 11th at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, ID. Arrangements are under the care of the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco.
