David Lee”Dutch” Waymire

David Lee “Dutch” Waymire, 77, father to Frederick Donald and John Henry passed away
surrounded by his kids and grandkids in the early morning of Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Dutch was born a triplet at Sacred Heart Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Donald and Margaret
Waymire in December of 1946. Their older brother, Jim, had suggested naming the triplets
Dewey, Huey, and Louie, but their mother instead chose the names Robert, Ronald, and David
for her boys. Dutch spent his whole life in the Little Lost Valley. He was brought up in Clyde,
where he attended Clyde Elementary and worked on his family’s ranch raising cattle. He later
attended and graduated from Butte County High School.
Immediately following graduation, at age 19, Dutch was drafted into the United States Army. He
served a 13-month tour in Vietnam as a lineman and wireman. Upon returning from Vietnam,
Dutch settled back into the Little Lost Valley where he purchased his farm at North Creek. Dutch
was dedicated to maintaining his farm, but he also worked as an outfitter for several years. When
he made the decision to sell that business, he pursued a job at the Idaho National Laboratory
(INL) as a waste handler. He retired in 2005 to return to full time farming.
Dutch was very passionate about hunting, trapping, and fishing. He left no mountain untouched
in the Little Lost. He bonded with his two boys by sharing his passion and knowledge of the
outdoors. It was not just a hobby, but a way of life for the three Waymire men.
Dutch loved spending time with his family. Sharing his home in North Creek with his kids and
especially his grandkids brought him so much joy. He is survived by his kids: Fred (Sierra)
Waymire and John (Brandy) Waymire, his grandkids: Bailee, Brett, Brenna, and Barrett, and his
great grandkids: Eastyn and Tel.
He is preceded into death by his parents, his brothers: Robert, Ronald (Runt), and Jim, and his
grandson, Blake John.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12 at 1:00 at the Howe Community Center.
Visitation with the family is available at noon the same day. Cremation services are under the
direction of Anderson Funeral Home. His ashes will later be spread in the places he loved.
